READING TASK: DANIELLE BARSI, KIRSTEN EVANS, EBONY TURSKI, KATIE WILLIAMS, JAIMELEE MARASIGAN

READING 1.

- The work of The Builders Association explores two different sides of theatre. Attractions tradition and the more critical Piscatorian tradition.

- They seem to be experimental through the employment of video in a dramatic, didactic and choric way.

- In their later work they draw from and explore real life stories, rather than fictional. Eg. Jet Lag.

- They also blend contemporary ideas with the classic. For example in Master Builder (1994) they used a shortened version of a text yet performed it in an industrial ware house in New York.

- The use of technology encouraged the audience to experience sensorial overload rather than engage critically in the text. e.g Alladeen.

- Throughout the use of technology they distorted time and space to create a virtual world. e.g Jetlag.

- They attempted to explore the mechanics of science in a contemporary society.

READING 2.

- Epistemology is "a branch of philosophy that investigates the origin, nature, methods, and limits of human knowledge" (Dictionary.com) : a word we had not experienced before.

- Embedded technology has pushed virtual technology aside?

- We found it difficult to decipher the second reading, any comments would be appreciated.
